At the end of the 19th century, the town of Vejprty experienced a real boom. The Industrial Revolution ushered in new technologies, and the railroad connected this small town on the border with Germany to the outside world. The predominantly cottage-style industry of small-scale lace production, which had a long tradition in the Krušné Mountains, gradually became automated—by 1914, as many as 45 factory chimneys dotted the sky in Vejprty.

Johann Hackl was one of the pioneers of the textile industry. He laid the foundations for his own factory in 1891. At the time, buildings were not uniform structures, but always had their own distinctive architectural character. His successors continued to expand the production complex in the following decades. By the late 1920s, scarves and shawls were being produced here, but after the communist coup in 1948, only workshops and warehouses remained on the premises. The factory complex’s existence came to a definitive end with the failed privatization efforts of the 1990s.

A few years ago, FHV s.r.o. began writing a new chapter in the history of this place. Through the complete renovation of a dilapidated building with a unique sense of place, the Fabrika Hackl residential project is taking shape—a project that pays homage to local tradition while offering modern comforts.
